PRIVACY POLICY - Screenrig

Your privacy matters. Screenrig was built to enable professional screen recordings and presentations — not to collect your data.

Note: Screenrig is currently available as a Public Beta via TestFlight. The same privacy principles apply during the beta as for the final version: recordings stay local, no uploads, no trackers.

1. What Data Does the App Collect?

Locally Stored Data:

  • Recordings: Screen recordings, webcam videos and audio files
  • Projects: Recording sessions with multiple takes
  • Presentation Settings: Hide desktop icons, app blacklist, menu bar configuration
  • App Settings: Layout, quality, device selection
  • Crash Recovery Data: Presentation state for recovery after crash (deleted immediately after restoration)

Data that is NOT collected:

  • No user accounts or registration
  • No analytics or tracking
  • No crash reports to external servers
  • No upload of recordings
  • No screen content sent to external servers
  • No location data
  • No usage statistics shared with third parties
  • No advertising IDs

2. Where is Data Stored?

Exclusively on your Mac

  • File System: All recordings and projects
  • UserDefaults: App settings and presentation configuration
  • Temporary Storage: Crash recovery state (deleted after restoration)
  • No cloud synchronization of recordings
  • No external servers

3. Permissions

Requested Permissions:

  1. Camera: For webcam overlay in recordings
  2. Microphone: For audio narration in recordings
  3. Screen Recording: For screen capture via ScreenCaptureKit
  4. Accessibility: For menu bar management and app hiding in presentation mode

Usage Purpose:

  • All permissions are used exclusively for core app functionality
  • Camera and microphone only active during recording
  • Screen recording only active during a recording session
  • Accessibility only active in presentation mode

4. Data Transmission

No Data Transmission During the Beta

  • No in-app purchases, no subscriptions during the Public Beta
  • No external tracking or analytics
  • No recordings are uploaded
  • No screen content is transmitted
  • No data shared with third parties
  • No network traffic from the app itself — the only exception is TestFlight delivery by Apple

5. Screen Sharing Detection

Screenrig detects active screen sharing sessions (Zoom, Teams, Meet) exclusively through local process detection on your Mac. No data is transmitted to external servers during this process.
