SignaScan
Sign it, send it back, done.
Rental agreement, school form, quote: SignaScan puts your own signature on any PDF — drawn, typed or imported from a photo — so you can send it straight back, no printer, no trip to the scanner. It finds the deadline in the document and reminds you in time; with Pro it lands in your calendar. All on your device, no account, Pro €1.99 once instead of a subscription.
The printer is the problem, not the signature
The rental agreement arrives as a PDF attachment. Signing it takes two seconds — getting there takes half an hour: print, sign, walk back to the scanner, find the file, attach, send. And anyone without a printer photographs the page at an angle on the kitchen table and sends back a grey, skewed image.
SignaScan cuts that detour out. Your signature lives in the app, the PDF comes in, the signature goes where it belongs, the file goes back out. No printer, no scanner, no trip to an office.
Three ways to get your signature in
Draw it. With a finger or an Apple Pencil. The writing surface runs along the long edge of the phone, because a signature is wide and flat — in portrait you write it into a tower and never quite hit your own hand.
Type it. Enter your name, pick one of four handwriting faces. For forms where the exact stroke of your hand doesn't matter.
Photograph it. If your signature already exists on paper, import the photo as a stamp and keep using it.
Placement is free: drag, scale, several signatures per page, on one page or on all of them. The signature sits as its own layer over the document — you can move it or take it off again without damaging the page. Pro adds text fields, checkmarks and the date, so a form is finished in one pass.
With Pro you save signatures and reuse them — a private one, a business one, a short initial. Without Pro every signature you create can be used once, so you see what the app does before you pay anything.
The deadline nobody reads
The real problem with an invoice isn't signing it, it's the date inside it. "Payable by 25 August" sits in line 14 and is out of your head a minute later.
SignaScan reads those dates out of the document — payment terms, notice periods, the expiry date on an ID — and turns one into a tracked deadline with a single tap. Reminders arrive 30 days, 7 days and one day before. The overview leads with the next deadline and its countdown, then separates overdue, due soon and scheduled.
With Pro the deadline also goes into your calendar or the Reminders app. Events land in a calendar of their own called "SignaScan", not in the middle of your work calendar: one switch in the Calendar app hides them, one tap removes them all. Delete the deadline in SignaScan and the event goes with it — no orphaned alert firing a year later.
This is the part other signature apps don't have, and the reason the app gets opened again after the first contract.
Yes, it scans as well
Edge detection, perspective correction, multi-page documents with no page limit, scan profiles for photo, document, contrast, greyscale and black and white. Photo and PDF import. Text recognition in many languages, with full-text search across everything you have ever scanned. Folders, tags, search.
The scanner is no longer the hero of the app — it's the feeder for the case where the document is sitting in front of you on paper.
What stays on the device
There is no sign-up, no login, no password. Text recognition, analysis and deadline detection run on the device; the app does its work in airplane mode exactly as it does on Wi-Fi. Stored documents are encrypted, and the app can be locked behind Face ID or Touch ID.
If you need your documents on more than one device, switch on the optional iCloud Drive sync (Pro). It runs through your own Apple ID — not through a server of ours.
Price
Pro is a one-time purchase at €1.99. No subscription, no renewal, no account. What you buy stays yours, Family Sharing included.
What SignaScan is not for
SignaScan produces a simple electronic signature — the same thing that happens when you print a form, sign it and scan it back in. For a rental agreement, a school form, a consent slip or a quote, that is enough.
If your document requires a qualified signature under eIDAS with identity verification, you need a certified trust service provider for that. There is also no recipient workflow in SignaScan with signature requests and an audit trail: the app signs your document, it does not manage the other party.

Frequently asked.
Do I need an account or a login?
No. There is no sign-up, no login, no password. Scanning, text recognition, signing and deadline detection all run on the device — the app works in airplane mode exactly as it does on Wi-Fi. If you want your documents on more than one device you can switch on the optional iCloud Drive sync (Pro); that runs through your own Apple ID, not through a server of ours.
What does the free version do, and what is Pro for?
Free: unlimited scanning, folders, tags, search, text recognition within a monthly allowance, deadline detection with reminders, and every signature usable once. Exports from the free version carry a small "Created with SignaScan" line. Pro is €1.99 once — not a subscription — and adds: saving and reusing signatures, export without that line, searchable PDF and TXT, deadlines in Calendar or Reminders, batch mode, iCloud Drive sync, plus text, checkmarks and dates placed into the document.
Can SignaScan put deadlines into my calendar?
Yes, with Pro. Events go into a calendar of their own called "SignaScan", not into your work or family calendar. You can hide it with one switch in the Calendar app or delete it entirely without losing anything else. Alerts follow the deadline itself: 30 days, 7 days and one day before. Delete the deadline in SignaScan and the event goes with it.
Is a signature from SignaScan legally binding?
SignaScan produces a simple electronic signature — the same thing you do when you print a form, sign it and scan it back in. For everyday paperwork that is enough: rental agreement, school form, consent slip, quote. What SignaScan is not: a provider of qualified signatures under eIDAS. If your document requires a qualified signature with identity verification, you need a certified trust service provider for that.
Can I sign a PDF that arrived by email?
Yes. Import the PDF into SignaScan, place your signature where it belongs — drag, scale, several signatures per page if needed — and share the finished file back. The signature sits as its own layer over the page, so you can move it or remove it again without damaging the document.
